Freeze dryer (referred to as "refrigerated dryer") is one of the most widely used equipment in compressed air post-treatment systems. Its core function is to remove moisture (mainly liquid water and some gaseous water vapor) from compressed air, and to achieve a lower pressure dew point temperature through physical cooling. It effectively separates condensed water and can significantly reduce the humidity of compressed air, prevent downstream equipment from corrosion, icing, and blockage, and protect pneumatic components and product quality.
Main advantages
1. Low operating costs.
2. The initial investment is relatively low
3. Easy maintenance and low maintenance cost
4. No pressure drop loss
5. No regeneration gas loss
6. The operating noise is relatively low
7. It is suitable for most general industrial applications
Ideal scenario: The ambient temperature is above freezing point, the pressure dew point requirement is not extremely low (usually>0 ℃), the compressed air inlet temperature is moderate (generally required ≤ 45℃), and the oil content is low.
Points to note:
1. Dew point limit: Due to the refrigeration principle, its minimum pressure dew point can usually only reach+2 ℃ or+3 ℃. It is impossible to achieve the ultra-low dew point of -20℃, -40 ℃, or even -70 ℃ that adsorption dryers may achieve.
2. Excessive oil content at the inlet can contaminate the heat exchanger, reduce efficiency, and even block channels.
3. In extremely hot environments, the heat dissipation efficiency of the air-cooled condenser may decrease, which may affect the drying effect.
4. In environments below freezing point, if not handled properly, condensed water may freeze in drainage pipes or inside machines.
Freeze drying machines are the main force in solving the problem of moisture in compressed air, which is economical, efficient, and easy to maintain. Its core advantage lies in low operating and maintenance costs, especially suitable for industrial applications that require a dew point pressure of >0 ℃, moderate ambient temperature, and pursue comprehensive cost-effectiveness. It is one of the indispensable key links in compressed air purification systems.
